LIBERTY COUNTY – Authorities are investigating after a 16-year-old was found shot to death on the side of a road in Liberty County Sunday morning.

Deputies with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a woman lying on the side of the road at CR 3550 near CR 5708 around 8:29 a.m.

Patrol Deputy Chris Martinez responded to the scene and said he found the Hispanic teen unresponsive and dead from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

Deputies said they have identified the teen but due to her age, her identity would not be released. The teenager’s family has been notified.

Anyone with information regarding this murder case is asked to contact the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at (936) 336-4500 or call the Multi-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-STOP (7867).
