2 firefighters, 4 people hospitalized after massive fire rips through Chelsea home
CHELSEA, Mass. — Six people were rushed to the hospital including two Firefighters after massive fire tears through a Chelsea home leaving dozens of residents displaced Wednesday morning.
Fire officials said one person had to be rescued by ladder after a fire started in the back of a home on Cottage Street sometime before 12:30 a.m.
Chelsea Fire Chief said heavy flames were seen spewing out of all three floors of the duplex injuring two firefighters and six residents in this 5-alarm fire.
23 adults and 9 children were believed to be in the building at the time, with nearly all residents able to leave on their own.
Red cross was on the scene assisting the residents with a place to live.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
