SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KTXL) — Sacramento police announced an arrest in Sunday morning’s mass shooting that left six people dead and 12 others injured.
Investigators said they identified Dandre Martin, 26, as a “relative suspect”. Martin is facing charges because he is suspected of having assault and illegal possession of firearms.
Police initially said they were looking for at least two people responsible for the deadly shooting.
The arrest comes after SWAT team members and detectives served search warrants at three homes, police said. During their search, at least one handgun was recovered.
Sacramento police said more than 100 shell casings were recovered from the scene in the K and 10th Street neighborhood where the shooting occurred around 2 a.m. Sunday. At least three buildings and three vehicles were hit by the deadly gunfire.
The victims have been identified as Johntaya Alexander, 21, Melinda Davis, 57, Sergio Harris, 38, Joshua Hoye-Lucchesi, 32, Yamile Martinez-Andrade, 21, and DeVazia Turner, 29.
12 other people were injured in the shooting; at least four of them suffered serious injuries.
