NEW YORK — Five people were wounded, one critically, in a shooting at New York’s famous Coney Island boardwalk on Sunday, authorities said.
According to the New York City Police Department, the incident happened at 21st Street and the boardwalk at around 2 a.m. EDT, WABC-TV reported.
There was an unsanctioned pop-up party on the beach when the shots rang out, a police spokesperson told WPIX-TV.
A 31-year-old man is in critical but stable condition after being shot in the back, the television station reported.
The other victims include a 19-year-old man, a 27-year-old woman and a 26-year-old woman, who all were shot in the leg, WPIX reported. A 36-year-old man was shot in the chin, the television station reported.
All were in stable condition, police said.
It is unclear what led to the shooting, WABC reported. No arrests have been made, police said.
