Antonio Rudiger is set to leave Chelsea on a free transfer after apparently rejecting a new contract offer.
The German defender is out of contract this summer and the Blues want to keep the central defender, who has been one of their best players this season.
However, his five-season association with the west London side is now set to come to an end.
According to The Telegraph, Rudiger turned down an offer worth £200,000 a week.
This was thought to be in line with the players’ request, but his representatives then wanted a signing fee worth over £10million, a similar amount in agent fees and a higher salary for Rudiger.
And the report adds that Chelsea now think it’s too much.
With the Blues also unable to secure any new deals until their ownership crisis is resolved, the 29-year-old is said to be unwilling to wait for the situation to be resolved.
Rudiger is now ready to leave Stamford Bridge for nothing, with a reporter Fabrice Romano adds: “Antonio Rudiger will leave Chelsea on a free transfer as he can’t wait more than 2 months for the new owners. No bids on the table. He’s always been respectful, but it’s time for a new challenge. It’s over .
“…Real Madrid are close to reaching an agreement to sign Rudiger.”
Rudiger’s representatives have reportedly spoken to Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are also believed to be an interested party with further talks over the defender’s future.
If the Red Devils are a favored destination for Rudiger, he will have to wait to discuss terms until his current contract runs out on June 30.
Rudiger will join Andreas Christensen in leaving the club this summer with the Dane all but confirmed as a Barcelona player, also leaving on a free transfer.
But Cesar Azpilicueta has so far allayed any defensive concerns by initiating a one-year contract extension.
