Carl Froch couldn’t help but reference the fact that he has already boxed in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium when discussing Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte on Saturday morning.
In 2014, Froch’s rematch with George Groves was the first fight to take place at the new Wembley.
The massive event sold an unprecedented amount of tickets, with 80,000 people in attendance.
Froch won the fight by knockout and retired, making it his last fight and his crowning glory.
Afterwards, he kept talking about it.
Famously in 2015, while working with Sky before Floyd Mayweather v Manny Pacquiao, Froch told Mayweather about his attendance figures during a live television interview.
Then, in 2017, he laughed at himself when AJ broke his record and sold 90,000 at Wembley for his fight with Wladimir Klitschko.
Now Fury and Whyte are expected to surpass Joshua’s number with an expected 94,000.
Froch went to BBC Breakfast News on Saturday morning to preview the fight and, of course, took a brief moment to talk about it himself.
The interviewer asked: “It’s such a great moment, isn’t it, for British boxing?”
Froch replied: “Absolutely, it’s a huge moment.
“And what an opportunity.
“I don’t know if you know this, but once I fought here in front of 80,000 fans and this stadium, believe me, is an amazing place.”
