Colorado woman dies at Grand Canyon after falling in whitewater rapids

A 68-year-old Colorado girl died final week when she fell into whitewater rapids throughout a multi-day boat tour in Arizona’s Grand Canyon Nationwide Park, it was introduced on Friday park officers.

Mary Kelley was close to Hance Fast on the Colorado River 9 days into her journey late Thursday morning when she fell within the water.

Members of her group pulled her out of the water and park officers flew in a helicopter, however all resuscitation efforts failed.

Park officers stated Hance Fast on the intersection with Pink Canyon is tough to maneuver on account of particles within the water from latest flash floods.

The Nationwide Park Service and Coconino County Medical Examiner are investigating Kelley’s dying.

Final August, an Oregon man died after falling 50 toes whereas strolling a path within the park. David Colburn’s dying final summer season was the 18th in 2021.
