Frazier ‘ready to rake’ after appendectomy Friday originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Cubs outfielder Clint Frazier appeared to be recovering fairly well after an appendectomy Friday that he’s already been pushing to get into the roster.
“I got a pretty funny message that he’s already ready to rake,” manager David Ross said on Saturday morning, “that he’s ready to go.”
Frazier is eligible to return from the 10-day injured list on May 3 against the White Sox, but his timing is anything but clear at this point.
Adam Dunn and Matt Holliday each returned from appendectomy for around a week in 2011, but that’s unusual (both have remained on active rosters while recovering).
Typical recovery time is at least two to three weeks. Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward, as a youngster for Atlanta in 2013, missed nearly four weeks after an appendectomy in April.
“We will have an update on his recovery hopefully in the next few days,” Ross said.
Frazier is 3-for-21 (.143) with two doubles, two walks and five strikeouts.
