Cubs postpone Friday game Vs. Pirates due to weather forecast – NBC Chicago

Cubs postpone Friday’s first pitch due to predictions originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

For the second time this week, Mother Nature has impacted the start time of a Cubs game.

Friday’s Pirates-Cubs game at Wrigley Field — originally scheduled for a 1:20 p.m. first pitch — was pushed back to 7:05 a.m. due to forecast afternoon rain.

Doors will open at 5:35 p.m., the team said.

The first pitch in Wednesday’s Rays-Cubs series final was moved forward 70 minutes due to rain in the forecast. The game was called off after 5 1/2 innings due to rain, with the Rays winning 8-2.

Pittsburgh won Game 1 of this weekend’s four-game series on Thursday 4-3.

Drew Smyly is the Cubs’ likely starter, and ex-Cub Jose Quintana is expected to take the mound for the Pirates on Friday.

Smyly hasn’t allowed a run in two starts (9 2/3 innings) this season. He allowed three hits in five innings against the Pirates on April 12 in his season debut.
