DA identifies pedestrian who was killed in Brockton wreck involving multiple cars, motorcycles – Boston 25 News



BROCKTON, Mass. — Authorities have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed in violent wreck involving multiple cars and motorcycles in Brockton on Wednesday night.

Officers responding to multiple 911 calls for a crash on Pleasant Street at Nye Avenue around 8:30 p.m. found that two pedestrians who had been struck by a motor vehicle, according to Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz.

One of the pedestrians, Edisson Matza, 24, of Brockton, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second female pedestrian was taken to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries.

The crash involved a Mercedes sedan, a Hyundai Elantra, and two motorcycles, according to the DA’s office. The wreckage and debris from the crash spanned about 50 yards along Pleasant Street.

The driver of the Elantra was not injured and the other three operators in the crash suffered minor injuries.

In a statement, investigators said, “The initial motor vehicle crash involving the pedestrians triggered a second crash involving two motorcycles, which in turn caused a third crash involving one of the motorcycles and another motor vehicle.”

The incident remains under investigation.
