BOSTON — A death investigation is underway after a pedestrian was struck and killed near a busy MBTA stop in Boston on Thursday morning.
The crash happened in the area of Columbus Avenue and Richie Street near the Jackson Square stop in the city’s Roxbury section around 5 a.m., according to the Boston Police Department.
The name of the person who was struck has not been released.
Commuters were urged to avoid the area as police worked to reroute Orange Line replacement shuttle buses and vehicles for hours during the morning commute.
Law enforcement officials reopened the area to traffic around 10 a.m.
The Boston police homicide unit is leading the investigation.
There were no additional details immediately available.
