BOSTON — Democrat Quentin Palfrey has dropped out of the race for Massachusetts attorney general with just a week to go before the 2022 primary election.

Palfrey will now endorse his former rival Democratic candidate Andrea Campbell, a former Boston city councilor.

“Tomorrow, Quentin Palfrey will formally endorse Andrea Campbell for attorney general after suspending his own campaign for the seat,” Campbell’s press office said in a statement.

With Palfrey’s exit, the race for attorney general is narrowed down to Campbell and Democratic labor attorney Shannon Liss-Riordan.

Maura Healey, the Bay State’s current attorney general, is running to become the next governor.

Palfrey and Campbell are expected to make a formal announcement at the State House on Wednesday.

The primary election will be held on Sept. 6.
