First Lady Jill Biden was against choosing Kamala Harris as her husband Joe Biden’s running mate after attacking him during a primary debate, according to an upcoming new book.

The first lady’s vexations have been exposed in an explosive new book by New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns titled ‘This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America’s Future,’ due for release in May. .

“There are millions of people in the United States. Why do we have to pick the one who attacked Joe,” Jill Biden said in a conversation after learning that Harris was the leading candidate for the job, according to an excerpt from the book provided to Fox News.

However, many in Biden’s inner circle believed Harris would give the president the best chance of winning the election, according to the book. Ron Klain, the current White House chief of staff responsible for selecting vice presidential candidates, thought Harris was the most qualified candidate for the job.

“Yes, Harris had attacked Biden harder than any other major Democratic primary candidate. Yes, the Biden family saw it as defamation and betrayal. By Klain’s assessment, this would work to Biden’s advantage,” the book states. “Choosing Harris will show people that you are magnanimous and forgiving,” Klain told Biden. It will show the country what a unifying leader you can be.

Joe Biden and Harris memorably clashed in the first Democratic debate in June 2019, when Harris chastised the president for opposing the federally mandated school bus, recalling his own experience with the bus and desegregation while growing up in Oakland.

Martin and Burns’ new book also details Joe Biden’s reluctance to choose Harris, citing his past romance with Willie Brown, the former San Francisco mayor who appointed Harris to two minor political posts.

New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer are noted in the book as other potential candidates consider her campaign, along with other lawmakers and activists, such as Stacey Abrams.

Abrams, the book says, ‘didn’t pass the test’ for the vice-presidential candidate after the campaign lost confidence in her ability to rally voters after losing Georgia’s 2018 gubernatorial election. Biden’s team also worried about his lack of experience as an elected official.

Harris was seen as the surest of Biden to win the White House, despite her attacks on Biden.

“You know, white women are incredibly racist, just like white men,” a close Biden adviser said in the book. “None of this was certain. It was a risky thing to do. But it was the safest choice we had.

According to a book published last year – ‘Battle for the Soul: Inside the Democrats’ Campaigns to Defeat Trump,’ by Edward-Isaac Dovere – Jill Biden told supporters on a conference call that Harris should “be fuck” herself for attacking her husband during the Democratic primaries.

The first lady notably did not deny making the remark, telling a reporter last year “It was two years ago. We moved on.
