Broncos center Kotoni Staggs has thrown down the gauntlet to Sharks counterpart Siosifa Talakai ahead of what promises to be an explosive one-on-one next week.
Staggs and the Broncos held off a valiant effort from the Bulldogs, ultimately going down a 34-14 winner, and the 23-year-old wasted little time looking forward.
The game between the two centers is shaping up to be a blockbuster matchup, following Talakai’s chilling performance in the Sharks’ win over the Sea Eagles on Thursday, where he finished with two tries and three assists.

“He’s doing well and he’s another opponent I have to face,” Staggs said of the match against Talakai.
“I just have to play my football and do what I can do and I’ll give him his money’s worth.
“We played the Sharks at Suncorp last time and I think we were a tryout against each other, so it will be pretty good to come up against him again.”
Staggs’ comments came after Talakai caught the attention of New South Wales State of Origin coach Brad Fittler with his performance against Manly.

“He played in some lanes with NSW,” Fittler said on Nine’s NRL coverage.
“He’s a proud Tonga man, there’s a mid-season test for Tonga at the same time as the second Origin…but he’s a NSW lad.
“They can play for NSW and Tonga. It’s a Tier 2 nation.”
