The Reds welcome their neighbors just days after a convincing 4-0 win over Manchester United briefly lifted them to the top of the Premier League table.

Liverpool v Everton: team news

Jurgen Klopp moved quickly to allay fears that Thiago suffered a hamstring injury after his withdrawal against United.

“He ripped his shorts! I thought he had done something else,” explained the German manager. “He told me he was fine!”

Roberto Firmino is expected to return to action following a minor foot problem while Liverpool are otherwise injury-free.

Meanwhile, Everton have several players missing, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin the latest to be sidelined for the Toffees.

Frank Lampard is already without Andros Townsend, Tom Davies and Nathan Patterson who remain in the treatment room.

Liverpool v Everton: What was said?

Lampard on the Toffees’ 1-1 draw with Leicester: “That’s the beauty of the point. Psychologically it can help.

“We also have to understand the matches ahead of us. Everyone who watched Liverpool last night [vs Manchester United] will understand the challenge coming this weekend, then Chelsea will come here.

“We have to understand that the picture might continue to look a bit like it is for the next two weeks. And then we can watch the running devices from that.

“But, for the players, they just have to focus game by game – because anything can happen in football. That’s why I don’t disparage us before Liverpool, because we have to go there with the conviction and the spirit to try to do something.

“So the idea of a point keeping us out of the bottom three for the next 24 or 48 hours is obviously a good one.”
