HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A man accused of killing a woman and injuring her sister in a shooting near Friendswood Monday is in critical condition after turning the gun on himself, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said Tuesday.
Deputies with HCSO said two sisters were shot in the 4700 block of Backenberry Drive at Constitution Lane. The victims were reportedly 18 and 20 years old.
It is believed the situation may have stemmed from an argument with the suspect. According to Gonzalez, the man shot the two women and then fled the scene in a gray sedan.
The woman who survived the shooting was taken to the hospital in critical condition, Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez said members of the HCSO Warrants Unit located the possible suspect in the shooting while he was in a vehicle parked outside of a grocery store in the 12600 block of Interstate 45 N in Willis. As deputies approached the vehicle, Gonzalez said the man shot himself. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition, the sheriff said.
Gonzalez said deputies at the scene did not discharge their weapons and there are no additional details at this time.
