HOUSTON – An investigation is underway after a fight that broke out inside a taco restaurant led to a shooting that left one man dead in Stafford, according to police.

Officers responded to the shooting at Brenda’s Taqueria in the 12500 block of Southwest Freeway near Kirkwood Road shortly before 3 a.m.

According to Stafford PD, witnesses said two separate groups, who apparently knew one another, arrived at the restaurant.

Later, a fight broke out between the two groups inside the restaurant when at some point, shots were fired, police said.

One man, who was shot during the fight, attempted to flee from the scene. Police said the man was later found dead behind a furniture store approximately 100 yards away from the restaurant.

Police believe the victim was part of one of the groups involved in the shooting.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Stafford Police at 281-261-3950 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS.
