There will be fewer trains operating during the afternoon commute after multiple Orange Line trains were vandalized overnight, the MBTA announced Wednesday.
In a tweet directed at Orange Line riders, the MBTA said, “We will be operating with longer headways this afternoon due to a limited number of trains.”
Transit officials noted the vandalized trains are in the process of being repaired.
“We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to put trains into service as quickly as possible,” the MBTA added.
Last week, the MBTA pulled all new Red and Orange Line trains out of service after an out-of-service car experienced a battery failure.
Recent schedule changes have also created longer wait times for riders due to fewer cars in service.
The schedule changes were implemented a day after the Federal Transit Administration issued a scathing report on the lack of safety at the MBTA.
The FTA found the MBTA to be short-staffed to the point where the trains were not safe for riders
