Lauren Pounds issues ‘toxic’ ultimatums

The whole premise of the Netflix show was that contestants were given an ultimatum to either marry the person they arrived with or leave after going through trial marriages. However, Ruggles and Pounds completely ignored this when they decided to get engaged on Choice Night.

Still, Pounds made it clear that she doesn’t think ultimatums are healthy or effective, and instead recommended couples try talking to a therapist.

Speaking about what she learned from the experience, she said, “I learned that you should work through your issues with your partner alone, go to therapy, or take a break/break up. Ultimatums are toxic.”

She continued: “To be honest, I think everyone’s relationship is different, so while I understand that kind of experience may have worked for Nick and Vanessa [Lachey] In the past, it was absolutely not for Nathan and me. I was hoping there would be professional therapists on hand.”

What fans didn’t get to see on The ultimatum: get married or move on were the poignant scenes of Nate dealing with his sister’s first birthday after she passed away. Naturally, it was a tough time for the actor and one in which he was comforted by co-stars Shanique Imari and April Marie.

It was the support of the two women who weren’t Ruggles’ longtime partner that was questioned on the choice night, as Ruggles recalled Nick and Vanessa Lachey had asked how the two ladies had it. supported more than Pounds.

In response to the hosts, he said: “That question is not one that cannot be answered since no one can compare to the way Lauren supported me. She was there when I received the call she was there when I couldn’t breathe I think she was there for every step.

“Right beside me, always supporting me, always knowing the perfect thing to say or do. I couldn’t have gotten through this without Lauren.”

Later that night, the married couple apologized to Ruggles for the situation. Ruggles recalled, “Vanessa and Nick came up to me immediately afterwards and apologized for the question and gave me a big hug and lots of nice words.”
