Environmental activists took to the streets of New York on Saturday and blocked traffic while holding up signs and chanting action against climate change.
The protest, organized by Extinction Rebellion NYC and other groups, took place near Bryant Park in New York City at the corner of 42nd Street and 6th Avenue and was shared by the group on its official Twitter page .

“#Latest news Rebels are sitting at the corner of 42nd and 6th Avenue,” read one message.
Another post showed two protesters standing at the top of a subway entrance with a sign saying, “We are in a f****** climate emergency.”
“10th day of rebellion – rebels take downtown,” another post said.

PROTESTER SCALE INTO DC BUILDING AND RAISE LARGE EARTH DAY BANNER
The protest comes the day after Earth Day and the day after the same group staged a protest in Washington, D.C., where a protester climb the front of a government building and unfurled a banner that read, “No New Fossil Fuels”.

This protester was eventually arrested by the police.
The New York Police Department did not immediately have information regarding the arrests made at the scene.
Video of the scene posted to social media showed NYPD officers appearing to arrest protesters.
Extinction Rebellion NYC, which did not immediately respond to a Fox News request for comment, engaged in many protests in New York over the past few days that have resulted in arrests on multiple occasions.
