‘No Nazi Homophobes in JP’ rally held at site of white supremacist demonstration – Boston 25 News

JAMAICA PLAIN — A rally against white supremacy activity was held in Jamaica Plain Saturday, a week after three people were arrested during a protest by neo-Nazi group the Nationalist Social Club.

“No Nazi Homophobes in JP” drew demonstrators to 1 South St., a park across the street from the Loring Greenough House, where the Nationalist Social Club protested a Drag Queen Story Hour event July 23.

Rallygoers carried signs reading “smash white supremacy” and “don’t let them scapegoat your LGBTQ+ neighbors” and held flags in support of the transgender community and “anti-fascist action.”

“I don’t want these neo-fascist guys showing up here, thinking that they can tell us how our neighborhood should be,” one attendee, who identified herself as Leslie, said of her decision to attend the rally. “They have nothing to do with our neighborhood. The whole point of being in JP is there is a broad range of everybody.”

Christopher Hood, who founded the Nationalist Social Club, also known as NSC-131, was arrested during the July 23 protest. Two counter-protesters were also arrested, but later had their charges dropped.

The group Solidarity Against Hate – Boston, which organized this week’s rally, criticized police on the event’s Facebook page for arresting the counter-protesters.

“During this attack, the Boston Police stood by and watched, even arresting two LGBTQ counter-protesters,” the group wrote.

Prosecutors said Monday they were not moving forward with charges against the two counter-protesters because they either had no or minimal histories with law enforcement.
