Panthers, Storm, Cameron Munster, video, interview

Five-eighth Melbourne superstar Cameron Munster made a grim admission moments after the heavy loss to Penrith, saying the Storm “looked like an Under-12 team”.

The Storm were without megastar full-back Ryan Papenhuyzen and half-back Jahrome Hughes, but Munster found no excuses following the 32-6 loss to the reigning Premiers.

“We were poor,” Munster told former Storm teammate Cameron Smith while covering Nine.

“It didn’t matter who we knocked out. We still had a good enough team to shake up the Panthers.

“We can complain about the weather or the slippery ball, but we were poor tonight and that’s not us, especially against a good team (at) Penrith.

“We have to go back to the drawing board and play a lot better against the Cowboys or it will be the same result.

“Quite disappointing result, and my performance too.”

When the Storm fought back with a Nick Meaney try in the 18th minute, Melbourne fans’ hopes were renewed.

But what followed was a relentless attack from Penrith and a small resolve from Melbourne.

“We kept getting into the kind of pressure footy that we wanted to play, but we kept giving them piggybacks and letting them out of their own way,” Munster said.

“When you do that against Penrith, they’re going to charge you… when Penrith has 60 per cent of the ball, they’re going to get you a lot of points, and they did that tonight.

“We were poor. We looked like an under-12 team.

“We have to go back to the drawing board.

“I can’t wait for next week. Far.”
