Worcester building collapse – 267 Mill Street Worcester building collapse – 267 Mill Street (@igworcesterma)
WORCESTER, Mass. — Residents were evacuated from an apartment building in Worcester following a partial roof collapse on Friday.
Emergency crews responding to a report of a collapse at the 32-unit building at 267 Mill Street learned part of the roof had collapsed onto the third floor, which in turn caused part of the third floor to collapse onto the second floor, according to the Worcester Fire Department.
Paneling work was being done on the roof at the time of the incident and the weight of the materials that were being used may have caused the collapse, fire officials noted.
Officials plan to assess the safety of the building and determine if residents can return their homes after the materials are removed from the roof.
There were no reported injuries.
An investigation remains ongoing.
