Severe thunderstorm watch issued for all of Massachusetts, New Hampshire – Boston 25 News



BOSTON — A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for all of Massachusetts and New Hampshire on Monday.

The watch is in effect for Barnstable, Berkshire, Bristol, Dukes, Essex, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, Middlesex, Nantucket, Norfolk, Plymouth, Suffolk, and Worcester counties in Massachusetts until 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

In New Hampshire, the watch covers Belknap, Carroll, Cheshire, Coos, Grafton, Hillsborough, Merrimack, Rockingham, Strafford, and Sullivan counties until 8 p.m.

The NWS warned of damaging wind gusts, hail, lightning, and torrential rain in those areas.

“Expect wind damage to trees and power lines. Minor hail damage to vehicles is possible,” the NWS said. “For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.”

Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued earlier in the day but they have since expired.
