The ‘Golden Girls’ fan convention is underway at Navy Pier

CHICAGO (CBS) – A “Golden Girls” convention is underway at Navy Pier throughout the weekend.

Golden Con for fans of the classic sitcom – featuring Bea Arthur, Estelle Getty, Rue McClanahan and Betty White – runs until Sunday.

“Golden Girls” fans can test their knowledge with games like “Picture it… Back in St. Olaf Story Slam Contest.”

The convention also includes a costume contest and autographs with actors who have appeared on the show.

Guests include Lyn Greene, who played a young Dorothy Zbornak in flashback sequences; Cindy Fee, who sang the cover of Andrew Gold’s “Thank You for Being a Friend” which became the theme song for “Golden Girls”; Dinah Manoff, who played Carol Weston; and Amelia Kinkade and Dr. Melinda McClanahan, McClanahan’s sister and niece, respectively.

The late, great Betty White – originally from Oak Park – was also due to get her own moment of honor.
