Tim Anderson of the Chicago White Sox suspended a game after knocking fans down

major league baseball imposed a one-game suspension on Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson after waving his middle finger at a fan in Wednesday’s 11-1 loss to the Cleveland Guardians.

Anderson, who struggled in the game with two errors in the first two innings, waved at a fan while on the court. The league issued an undisclosed suspension and fine, but Anderson intends to appeal his suspension.

“I have to apologize for my actions,” he said after Friday’s game, via the New York Post. “There are a lot of people who really look up to me. I take full responsibility for what I did. But it’s something I have to learn from and grow from.”

“Sometimes you’re going to react differently. It was one of those times where I reacted differently,” he continued. “But, like I said, I learned from it. I’m going to keep going and growing. Just keep being myself, put it back together and keep learning.”

Anderson made his sixth mistake in three games when he skipped a pitch to first on Carlos Correa’s two-out single Friday night that scored Ryan Jeffers from third. Correa may have stepped on Abreu’s glove as he tried to win the ball, ripping it out of Abreu’s hand.
