Todd Bowles got the best head coaching job possible

Fate smiled on Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles when head coach Bruce Arians retired.

Retirement would accelerate Bowles as the team’s head coach.

He now has a second chance as NFL head coach with a team built for the playoffs.

While other teams needed coaches due to poor performance, Bowles’ job comes from a championship team.

The Buccaneers are not a rebuilding or struggling team.

This is a team ready to win another championship.

You can rarely find playoff or championship teams that need to replace their head coach.

However, when the Arians retired, it gave Bowles that golden opportunity with the Bucs.

Bucs give Bowles his best shot at success

When Bowles got his first head coaching job in New York with the Jets, it was with a team with few star players.

He led that team to a 10-6 record in his first season there.

The Jets would not make the playoffs that season despite his efforts.

His next three years with the Jets were disappointing.

He never had another winning record with the Jets again.

But the Buccaneers are not the Jets because they have star players on offense and defense.

Tom Brady, Leonard Fournette, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are the stars of the Bucs offense.

They can turn any game around and have helped the team in the past.

The band he had in New York can’t compare to Tampa Bay.

Bowles’ working relationship with the Bucs helps him land the head coaching job

Bowles has been with the Bucs for three years coaching their defense.

The time spent with the team allowed him to bond with the players.

These links are important.

He needs those connections to move forward as the team’s head coach now.

They know what he expects of them, just as he also knows what they can give him on the pitch.

Both parties won’t have to worry about having to learn a new system.

Everything is already in place for Bowles with the Bucs.

New NFL head coaches envy that.

These coaches don’t have the luxury of chemistry like Bowles did with the Buccaneers team.

Can he take the Bucs to the Super Bowl in his first year?

Even though the team is set up for him, he still has to help make the right play calls and player substitutions.

He must continue to plan the match every week for each team.

Just because he has Brady and company doesn’t guarantee instant success.

If they give him the best chance to win every Sunday, they still need a leader for the team.

Bowles needs to maintain the defensive success he’s had the past two seasons with the Bucs.

If he continues what he’s been doing with the defense in Tampa, he has a chance at the Super Bowl.

All he will have to do is let Brady and Byron Leftwich handle the attacking play that calls the team.
