We have a fantastic stretch of weather through Thursday. Mostly sunny skies will rule with occasional scattered clouds. Highs in the 70s are expected at the local beaches with lower 80s inland. Temperatures will continue to rise this week. We’re seeing some of the strongest sun of the year, so make sure to load on the sunscreen!
THE HEAT IS ON
We’ll be on a Weather Alert Friday for extreme heat. Highs in the 90s are likely. In fact, it looks like the hottest day of the year so far! With a steady warm breeze from the southwest at 10-20 mph, sea breezes will NOT develop to keep Boston and the east coast cooler. The South Coast, Cape Cod, Vineyard and Nantucket will be the “cooler” spots with afternoon readings in the 80s.
UNSETTLED START TO THE WEEKEND
The next front with much needed rainfall will arrive Saturday. Right now it looks like a dry morning. Locally heavy rain and thunderstorms are set to develop in the afternoon and continue overnight. We’ll keep you posted as we fine tune the timeline for wet weather and any possible severe storms.
Other than a wake-up shower in southeast MA Sunday, it looks good. The 4th of July has a forecast of 80s, lower humidity and sunshine in southern New England.
